The Central Bank of Yemen appreciates the call from our brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council to support the internationally recognized Central Bank of Yemen and assist it in fulfilling its duties to maintain currency stability and promote economic stability in the interest of the Yemeni people.
The Central Bank of Yemen values this significant support from our brothers in the GCC during this difficult and exceptional time. It affirms its pride in this stance, which will enable it to continue its reform efforts with clear plans and steady steps, despite all the challenges and obstacles it faces. These efforts are backed by strong support from the Presidential Leadership Council, various segments of the population, and further reinforced by the backing of our brothers, friends, and international and regional organizations.
At the same time, the Bank regrets the suspicious incitement campaigns it is facing, which not only target it as a sovereign institution but also aim to undermine the promising stability achieved in the national currency and the reform system that is still in its early stages. These smear campaigns also affect the financial and banking sector, carried out by individuals affiliated with official bodies, amid complete silence from the relevant authorities.
The Bank reiterates its warning about the serious consequences of these unlawful practices and reminds everyone of the sensitivity of this sector and the dangers posed by the ongoing smear campaigns and violations to economic stability and the smooth flow of supply chains. It also warns against attempts to undermine the authority and independence of the Central Bank, which governs this vital sector, and against efforts to bypass reality without professional knowledge or institutional arrangements. These practices have already shown negative effects over the past two days.
